1 man OC
Who would have thought that a 1 man OC could get a job done this far...for the last week or so, there has been lots of copying, printing, pasting, booking, running, emailing on my part ina bid to make sure the stage is set for stage for a series of seminars that were having at the office. As I have one of those roles in the office that has a shockingly long title which basically translates to an equivalent of AIESEC's OC. You would think it would be different in a corporate sense but it is refreshingly not.Ofcourse there is the advantage of not having to worry about budget and none of that burning heels making company calls to seek for speakers and sponsors read t-shirts,caps, pens e.t.c
So for the last week and the next couple to go, I'll be based in a plush 5 star, zen and all, copying, pasting, printing, making sure there is water and mints on the tables, the pencils are sharpened, all material is on the table/walls respectively, breakout rooms are ready to go, coffee is on standby at all times, lunch is as per pax., the air conditioning/lighting in the room is right, output is typed out at the end of the day, couple of late nights and some saturdays in the office e.t.c, e.t.c...
Now now before you beginning to feel sorry for me, don't misundertstand me por favor...its a kool seminar and I get to sit in in all the sessions where there is all this strategic thinking and brainstorming going on...interaction with some serious folks, a break from my ever shrilling desk phone:)....so basically, its not a bad thing at all. In my informed optimism I daresay its a chance to learn lots of stuff as well as manage a significant event/project which cannot possibly be a bad thing now can it. Did i mention that i got one of those sugar cubes that says something to the effect of 'bravo, bravo, bravo bravisima' at the end of session 1 yesterday?..Ok so they didnt sing it and there are no rollcalls or powerpoints accompanied by enigma/yanni music..Hmmm..maybe I should have a chat with the facilitator and get some good ol' Cotton Eyed Joe going.....
