Crossing the border ....

One of the major reasons why my country count is still not as high as I woud like it to be is the constant need to beg and grovel at most embassies for a visa. Ofcourse there's the issue of the kaching BUT me reckons visas rank higher.
So when the folks at el palacio, Tee, Dev, Nach declare that there is a party across the causeway, I just pack and leave:)
Singapore is one of the few places that I dont need a visa no wonder those are the most frequent stamps on my passport...Other worthy mentions are Malaysia, Uganda, Tanzania errrrmmm is that it? Jeez whiz!
So its another weekend at the El palacio...Tee is finally leaving SEA :((...But perhaps Wellington may be added to the count..if they grant me a visa....Everything else crossed too...
Party time people! the theme is blackout..were all supposed to dress in black..Seriously Tee, whats that about?

For someone who talks so much, I should really my keypad where my mouth is and get atyping..and so it goes.
It appears to me now that tv is now very keen to send us to the grave with the hogwash that is reality TV. Oh so they say...Reality my foot!! There is no reality in reality tv shows I say...we are currently having to put up with 'The Average Joe'...the most annoying on the list I think. A group of regular chaps go to Hawaii to win the heart of some girl courtesy of hollywood. Is there anything realistic about this scenario??! The lot unfolds in a very random manner and I feel sorry for the lad who ends up with this chic after the entire entourage has checked her out...Big Brother is not too far in the annoying list, even the concept itself me thinks is sick! Then there is the Apprentice...arrrrghhh! where do I start? If I have to learn my project management skills from this show, im not sure where the business world will be years from now. The board room sessions make me sick and Im convinced that the projects are scripted..otherwise how do you explain how a group of stangers would agree to come together and make utter fools out of themselves on national tv...the only reason I would listen to is the green bills..and they best be earning loads.....and could someone please hook that Trump man with a kooler tupee(sp) his current one is just not kool.....
If I were to have a tv station, it would have to be sit coms, travel shows, national geographics, news, some south american soaps(whats tv without la vida de mujer,No One But You, Ezsaura et al)...AND there would be NO COMMERCIALS during kool episodes of Nip & Tuck and Everwood....this I must say is usually very vexing and just bad form on the part of the tv stations. For the record, this is when I flip channels to hasten the interruption so anyone in advertising..do not give me that whole prime time vybe..it dont work for me.
With those few remarks, im off to watch me some Nip & Tuck....

Quarter century today:)

Today I celebrate 25 years of my being on this planet. I was born right about the time when kool n the gang was playing alongside MJ(the black one). The junction of 2 eras;that was a kool time and dont get me wrong, I also believe that the kool times in life are the here and now because we are living them here and now!

I sort to find out what headlines were on the various June 6th seeing as today's are all not very happening....Unfortunately, not too many of them are significant to me at least but for fun you may want to check out http://www.brainyhistory.com/days. Select the day you were born and find out all the whacky things that were going on around the world while you were coming into the world...

Thanks to the Sing gang, Devrim, Tee,Alfy,Ceci,Michal for a suprise drop in on Saturday's pre-birthday bash!...and to the Mexicans for supplying drinks that spin your world!

Debt cancellation my debt!!

There is alot of wooha now from my beautiful continent on the whole debt cancellation biz.
I have lots of beef with this particular idea. It vexes me constantly that instead of putting their best feet forward with development issues, leaders from my end of the hemisphere spend endless days blaming the economic woes of the country on the issue of debt. In my layman's opinion, thats just bull!(forgive my french)
There are enough good examples of nations which have risen from tough times and some of these are almost the same age as some of the African nations.
A call for debt cancellation is an excuse I say!
DOnt blame the friggin door when it goes off its hinges and knocks you down while you noted that squeaky hinge a week back!
This might sound harsh but I like to call it a reality check.
Petty politics, corruption and I could go till tommorow have put some of the nations on a negative development path ai!I site my own nation as an example. With millions of capable people who havent been put to good use ai! I hyperventilate....

The way forward...use your weakness to your advantage. China has risen to the ranks by recreating products and creating a demand for them. It is not the koolest thing to do BUT it has worked and darn well if I must say so...
The only thing Africa lacks is nothing, we should shift into gear and get our groove on...
A friend posed a good question to us..What is my individual contribution?
While I ponder on this, here afew for the road;
a) Is it fair to place a common development measure for all regions of the world?
b) If no is your answer to (a), does anyone know of measures that have tailored for the regions?

..perhaps we sell ourselves short as were weighed upon someone else's scale?

I come from a beautiful continent with one border so diverse from the next its beyond me, we are an ever smily bunch with warm hearts and a song in the head/heart even through the thickest of times....This is a continuation of my contribution..put AFrica on your itineraries peeps, you will NOT be dissapointed....
