Oh what a sevens!

Thanks to the prompt from Migz and Tee's hard earned cash, April16-17th found us in Singapore's national stadium.
The event: Singapore Sevens
The objective: to spend 2 days on the gallery seats watching an excellent rugby tournament come rain(which actually did) or shine(lotsa peeling foreheads and sun burn marks)
My motivation: a chance to see some excellent games, cheer on the Kenyan team, spend time with the bandits at el palacio:)
....And what a weekend it was. Most of the games were excellent with lots of teams putting their best boots forward. I could go into the commentary but then again, why do that? The Kiwis dealt with the English full on in an exciting first half of the final and by half time we all knew who was taking the cup home. So did Liz's boys because they put out a boring 2nd half which I shall skip and move on to the greater moments of that evening which would be the Hakka.
Imagine 7 kiwi rugby players, shirts off doing the Hakka before thy very own eyes ...thats a whole load of sixpacks, lots of firm shiny ripplin bicep/tricep and any other relevant cep, beautiful faces, the 'barbwire' maori tattoo: all going Kamate! Kamate! (girls you can exhale here). I was kiwi struck and while the kiwi isnt the hottest bird in the family, these lads make up for its bad name.

pssss: In Swahili, 'kamata' translates to grab/catch/hold.
'Mkamate' translates to grab/catch/hold him or her
Whichever way you look at it, its one heck of a holding situation;)
There was also the jig done by the Kenyan boys whenever they had a try..but still twas the Hakka that won the day....

Tee and I also had a chance to go to the afterparty which is basically;drink all you can, eat all you can,hang out with some of rugby's finest, dance all you can while fighting off grubby hands(ok who am I kidding, what are the chances that a medium sized girl will fight off a rugby player in that league)..I mean avoid as many grubby hands as you can, swear that you have a very mean looking man back home(when they are imaginary these are even better. One can get highly descriptive and they buck off at the mention of another bull..RAH!!) BUT on the overall good fun. While Im still trying to gain back my voice, thanks to an overdose of ooohs, ahhhs , go get em, I could sum it in a couple;
-strive to watch a live sport..its the best way to go
-can someone tell me where all those fine looking brothers in the stand go to after the game. You dont see them on the street, they dont live in your hood, you have never seen them on a night out, nor in your local church nor at the bank hmmmm...highly vexing
-do not have frothies and sit under the sun...you will find yourself in an odd bus heading to a place you dont know..Kia Ora Digz!
-Always take good spots to the game like Digz, Tee, Steve, Adelle et al....
Here's a parting shot from one of the greater games of the tourny..
Waltzing Matilda vs Kia Ora bro!
