I thought I knew my toons....

..until I was involved in a conversation the other day. In my day, when we had one station (KBC) that started its transmissions at 5.00pm and if you switched on the tv any earlier, you got this annoying tiiiiiiiii sound and then as it got closer that turned into some random music e.t.c. e.t.c. Any Kenyan reading this will relate so I move on.

So the discussion starts between with a how kool Donald Duck was and his nephews Huwy, Luey and Duey were the koolest.Irene beb asks arent those guys called Kwik, Kwek and Kwak. Heheheh Jeff and I proceed to laugh all the way home at how ridiculous that sounds (well because in our worlds there was no indicator that there would be another name for the patitos).
In a bid to proove Irene wrong, I table the motion at the next dinner with a mix of nationals at the table and get the shock of my life. Not only are there other names for the duckies in other languages but most of them sound nothing like the original ...
