Hongkonged! once again!
Ay ay ay! so its taken me that long to recover from the absolute fiesta that was the Hongkong 7s last weekend. All I can say is..oh what a trip! A weekend of ruggers and chill out with great people.
The tourny
Friggin fantastic! It helps especially if yu are seated at the south stand with a team of firemen on one side, superman and batman next to you, Austin Powers matching up and down the isle, the Thai police arrive in full gear, an entire ER strides in full scrubs, the Royal family waves at you as you head for your seat, another team of 20 or so walk in with varying lengths of the cape, underwear, footwear ranging from boots to flip flops, Poison Ivy is serving up the Pimms, a pair of penguins in full regalia goes by, the pope and his band of nuns (mostly male ofcourse) drift in jugs of beer in hand, Sweet Caroline keeps playing and while no one quite knows all the words were all singing along happily.....ay! the atmosphere is positively electric!
And then the boys get into the pitch and do their thing. Special mention goes to the Kenya vs France game which in my opinion had our boys in very very good form nice!
The final game was AWESOME!!!! England vs Fiji...a try that can only be equivalent to a buzzer beater in basketball putting the English in the lead....what a game!
The people
The usual suspects put on a fantastic meet up..and the story is best told at http://devrim.nomadlife.org/
In summary the weekend flowed as follows;
Friday: boogeying and great times in LKF with the suspects above ending in a near comatose state all round
Saturday: recovery and more indulgence over excellent games leading to a long night out in Wan Chai and LKF
Sunday: more excellent ruggers and indulgence leading to an overnight extravaganza in Wan Chai with the very popular Kenya team already..what a rush! They say pics speak louder than words..so here....http://www.flickr.com/photos/44629993@N00/
