Reflexology or masochism?

One of the things I have promised myself for the year is to be open to new experiences and hence it was in this spirit that Beannie and I decided to head off to a foot massage a.k.a reflexology. The idea of a massage normally should elicit a huge smile and sigh of relief and it was in this positive mindframe that we zoomed through the streets of Pudu into a reflexology palour.
The chinese people have over time prooved their prowess in this sorts of things so when the guy put our feet into the warm water to soften and relax our muscles (and I suspect clean our feet too!) we grabbed a newspaper each, nestled deeper into our seats and got ready for a glorious 1 hour of pampering.....NOT!!!!
What started off as a rather pleasant thought soon became a rather painful reality.
For those new to the concept, apparently the human foot is the end point of all nerve endings, or so I understood(I could have been delirious from the pain) so basically this means that an expert reflexologist can tell if something is wrong with your uterus, jaw, groin, back, head e.t.c by massaging certain sections of your foot...strange but true. Well massage he did and I can assure you, there is hardly pleasure or relaxation in one of these sessions, ooohs and uhhs not withstanding....
I had a newspaper with me and I cannot tell you what was on any of them pages.
The kneading, the rubbing, the rolling, the pulling, oh the squeezing and again the rubbing and kneading yikes! And there I was thinking that the foot is just loads of dead skin...well then what the f*oo*t was all the anguish about? And to think that I actually paid someone to inflict pressure on my foot..talk about shooting one's own foot no?
They say that if you are of fit health, it shouldnt be too much drama in which case I must be one of the living dead! Ay! I have it on record that im as fit as it can get..all circumstances in consideration, so I do beg to differ with that theory.
The centre of my foot still hurts like mad and Beannie's foot is in an ankle brace so go figure:)
I would like to recommend this excercise to all those folks who get a kick from painful experiences:)...next time I want a foot massage, I will......arrrmm what am I thinking? Next time I want a pleasurable feet expereince, I'll buy me a trip to the beach and dip my fit in some nice warm smooth sand!
On the lighter side, we did get a cup of chinese tea for our trouble and the staff were nice :)

1 new thing down, many more to go....

Here's a tip: get tougher bro!

It's actually quite good once you get used to it... and works. Try the suction cupping sometime too. :)
