Things they should say
Week 2 in Nairobi and im finding myself more and more amazed by this city. I feel like i have rediscovered it and its just great.
Im also doubly pissed off at all the entities responsible for publicing this country because they never tell you of some of the kool things for instance;
-The city council have done a job at making the streets in the city cleaner. Potholes not withstanding,repainted lines and an attempt at fixing some of them is commendable by all standards
-Works on the Nairobi-Mombasa highway is in progress and though not complete, I daresay it alot of steps up
-The number of coffee shops and cool hangout pubs are on the rise. Imagine hanging out at a sports bar, decent drinks, proper sounds from a dj(including lots of great local tunes), peace and love in the air, kenyans and foreigners having an equally awesome time.
Ah and you got to love the increase of live bands, salsa nights, middle east themed hangouts complete with shishas and mint tea:), asian cuisine, italian...the works!
-Lots of international cuisine now in Kenya at plenty of locations in the cities. On that note I recently noted 'Kowloon Chinese Restuarant' in the heart of Nairobi. Looks like my craving for Kailan and kwae tiao may just be dealt with.
-Branded stores or their near equivalents are in place. Though the pricing is way steep, we even have ''the body shop'.....never in a million years did I dream of this
- Young people taking up leadership roles in alot of local entities...there is hope for all of us.
-The availability of Roast meat(GOAT, fish, BEEF, Chicken) name it..at every opportunity:)
Next stop is the national park for a glimpse of things on that end...
.....I could go on and on but I think by now you get the drift
Whats that I hear? Your coming to Kenya already....KARIBU!
